21 Apr 2010

TOKYO – JAIMS, along with partner the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business, recognized the 11 students of the 2008-2010 Japan-focused MBA (JEMBA) class at commencement ceremonies held at the Josui Kaikan on April 21, 2010.

At this event, the JEMBAs marked their completion of a rigorous two-year program, which included a 3-month capstone internship at an organization in Japan. The internship was preceded by course work in Honolulu consisting of core MBA classes, advanced level international business courses, and intensive Japanese language and culture lessons.

Commencement speaker Aaron Medina, General Manager - Hawaii/Japan/Micronesia, The Hertz Corporation encouraged the graduates to always strive to make a difference in their companies and in society. He shared personal experiences from his nearly 20 years with Hertz, where he has the reputation of having had more positions in the company working his way from car washer to his current position. He reminded the graduates of the value of working hard with excellence.

JEMBA graduate Nirupama Raman delivered the student address on behalf of her 2008-2010 JEMBA cohort. She noted that the JEMBA represented an extraordinary two years that has been about “finding our way, finding our goal, and realizing our dream.”
