General Guidelines
  • Unless the content will benefit all subscribers, please “reply directly to the individual posting the message instead of replying to the entire group bulletin.
  • Summarize the subject when responding to a message so others can follow the thread.
  • Ensure your message is appropriate and of interest to all subscribers.
  • Do not send spam: "unsolicited email sent to many people for commercial or personal gain."
  • Use caution about sending sensitive or confidential information.
  • Be courteous and professional in your messages.
  • Do not assume people are speaking for their organization or employer.
  • Do not post information that may infringe on copyright laws.
  • Do not send large attachments.

To Post a Message to the List

For the JAIMS Family Forum, send your message to jaimsfamily.
For the JAIMS Job Bulletin, send the message to jobs.
To send a reply to an individual member only, hit "reply" and ensure that the "To:" field contains the address of your intended recipient.
 
Subject Lines
Use a short phrase in your subject line that describes your message topic(s). This will help other members screen messages that may be of interest.
 
Short Responses
Do not send one-line responses or other responses that do not add substantively to the discussion.
 
Long Responses
If you are responding to a long message, it is best to cut out those parts of that message that are not relevant to your response.
 
Copyrighted Material
Do not post copyrighted information to the bulletin (e.g., an extended excerpt from a research article).  Note that email messages, like written letters, are considered copyrighted by the author of the message.  Therefore, it is inappropriate to forward another person's email message to the bulletin without permission from that person.
 
Signature
Include your “signature” with every message.
