Intercultural Health Care Management
Program
JAIMS offers the Intercultural Health Care Management
Program (IHCMP) to educate your company's health care professionals about
the American managed care system. JAIMS developed this innovative
program together with Showa Pharmaceutical Groupnow known
as AZWELL Inc.to bring together health care providers from
Asia-Pacific countries with health care professionals and hospitals
in the United States. Participants in IHCMP study, observe and learn
how Western medical facilities manage numerous hospital functions,
including new management techniques, processes for improving efficiency
and effectiveness, and other details of the American managed care
system. The program can be tailored to include:
- Concepts taught by U.S. doctors and health
care professionals
- Site visits to leading health care facilities
in Honolulu
- Receptions with health care professionals
- Professional language translators, program
coordinators, and translated course materials
Customized Programs
Each IHCMP is planned for up to two weeks in length and is tailored
to the needs and concerns of each group. Shorter or longer programs
are available, however. The customized program of topics may include:

- Japanese Case Exercise in Strategic Planning

- Acuity-based Scheduling
- Day Surgery Program
Site Visits
Participants will gain first-hand experiences by visiting medical
facilities that will provide half or full day site-visit experiences,
tailored to the participants, and mutually beneficial to participants
and hospital personnel. Activities may include an overview of hospital
management, a description and observation of selected operations
and departments, and a discussion of management issues with hospital
administrators and physicians.
Accomplished Instructors
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced practicing
professionals versed in a particular specialty, including medicine,
administration, marketing, facilities management and law; adjunct
faculty of the University of Hawaii School of Medicine who are also
medical doctors; and experienced faculty of the University of Hawaii
at Manoa Shidler College of Business and other universities
who have taught health care professionals in business management
topics.
