Executive Director of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Japan Limited Pays a Visit to JAIMS Students

HONOLULU— At the start of the new year, Japan-focused MBA (JEMBA) and China-focused MBA (CHEMBA) students were treated to a luncheon with guest speaker Benjamin Bystrom, Executive Director for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Japan Limited.

Bystrom discussed much of his experiences and common duties within Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, imparting significant insights into the world of Tokyo finance to the attentive JAIMS students.

With ten years experience in JapanÕs capital markets, Bystrom was able to impart his knowledge of bond issues, investment banking, and the securitization of loans within the context of JapanÕs current and future economy.

One of the most crucial pieces of advice he left students with is to specialize their skills and bring Òsomething differentÓ to the Asian market in order to get their foot in the door and build a foundation for a long and successful career.

Bystrom, himself, specializes in Structured Finance and Securitization which has lead him to hold prominent positions in Tokyo at financial institutions such as MoodyÕs Investors Service and Merrill Lynch. He will soon be expanding his role at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter to encompass more regions in Asia.
