JAIMS Workshop Features Experts in Health Care
Marketing and Branding
HONOLULU Hawaiis largest private
management institute brings to Hawaii an internationally recognized
expert in health care marketing and a specialist from one of the
leading market research firms in the U.S. to lead a workshop on
advanced health care marketing for health care professionals, providers
and consultants.
JAIMS offers invited individuals the opportunity
on May 6 to meet and discuss advanced health care marketing and
branding with workshop leader Dick McDonald, managing officer of
BVK/McDonald in Milwaukee, who will be joined by Steve Steiber of
Opinion Research Corporation (ORC). They will cover such topics
as health care marketing trends, impact of globalization, importance
of branding, advanced technologies for successful marketing and
obtaining a stronger return on investment. The workshop will bring
together Hawaii professionals from hospitals and other medical facilities,
public relations and marketing firms, accounting and law firms,
state and county health agencies and health care provider agencies,
among others.
"We are fortunate to have national leaders
and stalwarts in the health care marketing field willing to come
to Hawaii to share their expertise with us. McDonald and Steiber
offer a powerful combination and a rare opportunity for our health
care community," said Glenn Miyataki, president of JAIMS. "Health
care has recently become the states second largest industry,
and companies and organizations here are stepping up their search
for markets outside of Hawaii. With an integrated cultural environment
and quality health care, we are in an advantageous position to promote
this growing industry to others."
McDonald, who was responsible for BVKs
entry into the health care field more than 27 years ago, has conducted
over 200 numerous seminars and workshops on health care marketing
at national and state health care conventions, health system and
board retreats and health care provider leadership sessions. He
has also served Japans Ministry of Health as a consultant
in the marketing area for Japans health care reform.
Steiber, head of ORCs health care market
research division, was recently involved with a study interviewing
4,000 leading executives of corporations throughout the world on
the importance and value of branding. ORC, which also does market
research for General Electric, has already extended the same study
into health care.
The one-day workshop on advanced health care
marketing will be held at JAIMS. McDonald and Steiber will also
be presenting a similar workshop at JAIMS on May 7 and 8 for health
care professionals from Japan.
Last September
JAIMS launched its first Intercultural Health Care Management Program
for a group of health care professionals from Japan.
