EWKLP Fall 2008: Model for Innovation
Final Competition Winners

February 9, 2009

Held on December 18, 2008, the Model for Innovation Final Competition among students of the EWKLP Fall 2008 class highlighted the student's understanding of international business strategies. Throughout the "Special Topics" module, students participated in a series of lectures, site visits, and interactive activities from which they gained insight to global management and accompanying leadership issues. They were then to create and present a hybrid East-West business model based on what they had learned. The model had to meet requirements of having the potential to solve a real-life business problem.

After an intense preliminary round, the competition was narrowed down to the top five teams, who presented their model to a panel of judges.
- Prabu Balashanmugam and Kelvin Goh: "Leveraging Fujitsu's Competencies for a Truly Global Company"
- Jade Carson: "A Policy Framework for the Australian Customs Service"
- Tzen-Iuan Chen, Yoko Maekawara, and Miyuki Uehara: "Delivery & Consulting Service for the Elderly"
- Rie Iwata and Kazuko Nose: "Revitalize the Honolulu Zoo"
- Mariko Hikosaka and Yuko Takeuchi: "Eastern Medicine, Massage and Relaxation for Health Maintenance"

Congratulations to Kelvin Goh and Prabu Balashanmugam for their impressive presentation on "Leveraging Fujitsu's Competencies for a Truly Global Company." Their Global Leveraging Model was described as "very sophisticated" by the judges, and accompanied by a "thought-provoking" presentation. The winning model illustrated how Fujitsu could implement knowledge creation and idea sharing to set it apart from competitors in the global market.
