Frank A. Haas Speaks to JAIMS Students
HONOLULU Today, JAIMS
students were audience to a stirring presentation on marketing management
by guest speaker Frank A. Haas, Vice President of the Ohana
Foundation.
Welcomed by a warm round of applause from JAIMS students
in the Japan-focused
MBA (JEMBA) and China-focused
MBA (CHEMBA) programs, Haas spoke on his own experiences in
marketing and how marketing tools have evolved with technology since
he first started.
This sudden influx of new tools, according to Haas,
has forced most to rethink the traditional rules of marketing .
"It is an exciting time to be getting into business,"
Haas said, "because pretty soonŽ there'll be new rules."
Haas encouraged students to learn the basic tools
of the trade like brand development strategies, and demographics,
while staying aware of new ones that allow for ideal one-on-one
relationships with customers.
Haas' advice came with considerable weight since he
is also Immediate Past Chairman of the
American Marketing Association (National) and was once CEO-Managing
Director of Ogilvy & Mather, Hawaii.
Perhaps the most valuable advice Haas gave to the
JAIMS students came from his opening remarks. "The trick to being
a good marketer," he said, "is to hang around good marketers."
