Business Japanese Program (BJP)
JAIMS provides the Japanese
language and culture training to prepare students to work effectively
in Japan.
Learning Objectives
Course content may vary depending on the individual student's
proficiency, but students finishing the program will have an
understanding of the following:
- Japanese history
- Geography
- Literature
- Sociology
- Life in Japan
- Japanese characters
Language Objectives
300+ hours of language training includes raising proficiency
levels in reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills
within a business context as well as becoming familiar with corporate
and social culture.
Prior language training is helpful but not required. You
will be tested and placed in a class according to your proficiency.
Business Japanese Program and Culture
Intensive Business Japanese Communication courses are aimed at
raising proficiency levels in reading, writing,
listening, and speaking skills within a business context. Prior
language training is helpful but not required. Students are
tested and placed in classes according to individual proficiency. Instruction
runs concurrently with other courses for the duration of the program. Course
content may vary depending on the proficiency and distribution
of students in any given year.
Capstone
Field Experience: Internship in Japan
The JEMBA capstone is a three-month internship at a company or
organization in Japan. While engaged in the day-to-day operations
of an organization in Japan, participants practice Japanese business
and communication techniques, and learn how to conduct business. The internship is the definitive experience
for JEMBA students, bringing to the forefront the business knowledge,
language, and intercultural skills learned in the coursework covered.
