Biography
James R. Wills, Jr. is a Professor of Marketing and International
Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Since joining
the University in 1977, he has taught in the undergraduate, graduate
and executive education programs and has provided a wide range
of academic leadership in the field of International Business.
As
a professor, Wills has a rich academic record in teaching and research,
and has twice been awarded the University of Hawaii, Shidler College
of Business, Teaching Excellence Award. He has published
numerous scholarly articles in leading academic journals, including
the Journal of Advertising Research, the Journal of International
Business Studies, the International Journal of Industrial
Marketing Management, the International Marketing Review,
and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Professor Wills has held a number of academic/executive positions
while at the University of Hawaii including the following appointments:
Executive Secretary of the Academy of International Business and
Executive Board Member (1995-2003), Interim Dean of the College
of Business, Associate Dean of the College of Business, Director
of the Executive MBA program, and Director of the Hawaii Management
Program. He established the first Executive MBA in Hanoi,
Vietnam, jointly with the Hanoi Business School, and has had visiting
professorship appointments at the Institute of International Studies
and Training in Japan and at Chulalongkong University in Thailand. He
was selected as a Fellow of the Pacific Asian Management Institute
in 1982. In 2006, he was elected to the Academy of International
Business Fellows.
A
graduate of Taylor University (BA, 1968), Western Michigan University
(MBA, 1970), and Kent State University (DBA, 1976), James Wills
is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Mu Kappa Tau honor societies. He
is married, has four children, and five grandchildren.
