For JAIMS Housing Providers
JAIMS Housing Database for Students (Tenants)
and Host Families (Landlords)
The Japan-America Institute of Management Science
(JAIMS) is a nonprofit organization existing in the State of Hawaii.
JAIMS operates short-term management programs as well as a master's
degree program in business administration in cooperation with the
University of Hawaii. Many of the students enrolled at JAIMS are
from out-of-state and a significant number of them are from foreign
countries.
JAIMS does not have housing facilities. Some of the
JAIMS students rent apartments or houses on their own through commercial
arrangements. Other students, in addition to their studies, look
forward to having a local experience in a family setting. Some families
in Hawaii Kai and surrounding neighborhoods have extra rooms and
also enjoy the company of a student on a short-term basis. This
family-type housing arrangement is beneficial for students and families
who want to have intercultural interaction.
JAIMS has compiled a database
of families in Hawaii who wish to provide housing accommodations
for a fee to students of JAIMS. Students are given access to this
housing database. Arrangements between the student and the family
are contracted directly between them as tenant and landlord.
Families who wish to be entered into the housing
database must meet certain requirements before their rental is
listed in our database. JAIMS does not guarantee the performance
between the host family/landlord and the student/tenant and it
is not a party to the housing arrangements.
JAIMS hopes that the intercultural experience will
be a positive one for the host family/landlord and the student/tenant.
We hope that when the JAIMS student leaves Hawaii he or she will
be much enriched and will return to Hawaii many times over in the
future for business and for pleasure.
