Participant Accounts

Participant accounts (network account, e-mail account & printing account) are assigned to all ICMP and JEMBA participants. These accounts are for the sole use of the participant to which they are assigned. Use of the accounts by other than the account holder will result in termination of computer lab privileges.

(1). Network account and printing account expiration
Network/printing accounts remain valid for ICMP students until completion of the program. For JEMBA students, accounts are valid for the duration of the Hawaii portion only.

(2). E-mail account expiration
E-mail accounts remain valid for both ICMP and JEMBA participants until six months after the program.

Operation Hours

The computer lab is open when the JAIMS building is open.
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 06:00 p.m.

Software

The computer lab, classroom computers and Takuma Yamamoto e-Learning Center (TYeLC) computers provide access to a multitude of applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, Acrobat Reader, Real Player, e-mail readers, and Web browsers.

Installation of class and personal software or modification of files on the server and/or individual workstation fixed disks are prohibited. Violations of these policies are grounds for revocation of computer lab privileges and/or administrative action.

User profile

JAIMS will provide 15MB of profile for each participant containing his/her e-mail information.

Mail Box limitation

Each participant have 5MB mailbox are available.

Classroom & Seminar room Presentation Equipment

Three classrooms and a seminar room with presentation equipment (PC, video projector, VCR and OHP) are available.

Printing and Cost

The computer lab and TYeLC are each equipped with one high-speed copier for printing and making copies. Those copiers are controlled by the software, which debits each participant’s individual account for each print job and a copy. Account and print jobs are password protected. JAIMS will charge five cents a page for printing and copies, and payment must be made in advance so that each account can be debited accordingly. However, all participants are each given $30.00 of “free” credit for the duration of their program of study. Additional credit may be purchased as needed at the receptionist's desk.

Using the Computer

In order to use the computer, you must logon to the network by using your assigned network account. Instructions are given below:

(1) Turn on the computer, logon to the network.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete buttons to logon to the network

 

Input your
• User Name (Network account),
• Password
• Domain Name (jaims_hi)
then press the OK button.


(2). To Log out from network
Before logging off from the network, do not forget to save.
1) Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete buttons
2) One click “Log off “ button on Windows Security
3) One click “Log off “ button on Log Off Window
