Laurence Kiyohiro (JMP-15) was selected
by the American Institute of Banking, Hawaii Chapter, as Instructor
of the Year. Kiyohiro, an attorney and registered investment advisor,
is a principal with Artisan Capital Management in Honolulu ... Philip
Jones (JEM-3) has transferred to Beijing, where he is the general
manager, North China Region, for Kintetsu World Express. Phil will
also be forming a Beijing chapter of JAIMS Bond! ... Junichiro
Suita (AMP-35) has moved from Fuji Electric to the personnel
development department at SAP Japan, whose 700 employees represent
16 different nationalities ... Takao Miyanaga (AMP-11) is
a manager with Fujitsu Kiden Ltd. in Tokyo and has linked his homepage
with the JAIMS web site! ... Arie Nugroho (AMP-91F) writes
that he is business development director at PT. Hadatrans Interbuana,
an international transportation and trading company in Semarang,
Indonesia ... Hanjaya Limanto (JEM-4), with Bumi Finance
in Jakarta, Indonesia, is interested in contacting other JEMBA-4
alumni ... Nancy Ross (JMP-11), busily pursuing her doctorate
in international marketing at the United States International University
in San Diego, California, is a teaching assistant for an introduction

sales and marketing representative for Avnet Computer Network Solutions

alumni ... Amy Chow (JMP-14), previously with Hewlett Packard,
is now working with Johnson Stokes & Master, Solicitors, in
Hong Kong ... Terumi Mizuno (ICMP-96S) has been assigned
as a short-term consultant to the World Bank and is working on updating
an environmental monitoring system of the National Thermal Power
Corporation, an Indian government-owned company ... Donna May
Tan Ong (JEM-5) and her husband Leonard recently moved from
California to Washington State ... Masako Funahashi (AMP-38)
is working as a freelance Japanese public relations specialist after
leaving Obun Hawaii, Inc. last year. She and husband Jaekwon
Lim (JEM-3) are the happy parents of Sally Hina Lim, born this
past July in Honolulu. Jaekwon is a correspondent for Reuters in
Seoul.

Rick T. C. Chan (JEM-6), manager of business
development and coordination for Dah Chong Hong (Japan) Ltd., was
at JAIMS in November to speak with the JEMBA-8 class ... Jordan
Glen (JMP-10), with Vision Data Technology in London, took time
out from holidaying with friends in September to drop by ... Hitoshi
Kitajima (AMP-30), with Nikon Corporation in the scientific
instrument international department in Tokyo, visited in August
... Yosuke Tanaka (AMP-93F) visited JAIMS before taking off
for Maui to join a group of AMP classmates. He is a merchandiser
with GM Company in Tokyo ... Hiro Minami, also AMP-93F, brought
his family to see JAIMS. He is now a consulting engineer with Cadence
Design Systems in Santa Clara, California. They recently moved from
an apartment to a house, where they are happy to be growing their
own vegetables! ... Kei Yamanouchi (AMP-92F) visited JAIMS
with his wife. In August he changed jobs from Fujitsu to IBM, Japan
Ltd. ... Nobuhiro Takazawa (ICMP-94F), of Fujitsu Ltd., dropped
by while on vacation ... In December two JEMBA-2 classmates stopped
byLee Boon Gee is senior project manager with the Singapore
Housing and Development Board, where he is heading a $200 million
unit in charge of refurbishing old estates and precincts. He, his
wife and two sons were visiting Hawaii for the first time since
the old JEMBA days. With them was Clarisse Ching Lavatai
(also JEM-2) and her son, Luc Christian, born October 16, 1997.
Clarisse married husband Eric in 1996 and is enjoying being a full-time
mom in Mililani, but reports that she "has not lost the urge
to travel" ... Also visiting JAIMS in December was Mark
Griffin (JMP-15), vice president and general manager of PAE
Design, a planning, engineering and architecture firm based in Tokyo.

A very happy Takashi and Yoko (Tsuji) Tanaka
(ICMP-94F) dropped by in September a few days after their wedding
at Central Union Church in Honoluluthey met here at JAIMS!
Takashi is with Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd. ... Best
wishes also to Qiang Liu (ICMP-96F) and Xin Yu, who were
married in Beijing ... Feliza Lim Blanch (JEM-3) and husband
Christopher celebrated their wedding in November in the Philippines
... Indunil Liyanage (ICMP-96F) and his wife Anusha were
overjoyed with their first anniversary celebration in August, as
they became the happy parents of baby boy Akash, whose name means
"mouth full of sky."
