Handojo (JEM6) has been busy the past three years managing
several medical clinics in Indonesia and received best performance
for the
health centers in the whole province of Bengkulu, Sumatra and the
doctor of the year award in 1998 from the president of Indonesia.
He is now studying for his master in health administration at the
University of New South Wales in Australia ... Seth Huber
(JEM8) was hired by MCI WorldCom Wireless in April as a senior
sales representative in their Phoenix, Arizona office. He and

spending most of this year in the U.S. working on various projects

which his company acquired in 1993. Frost now has research

During the summer, JAIMS President Glenn Miyataki
met with alumni in various cities and with former JAIMS staff from
Fujitsu in Tokyo. Here’s an update: After headhunting for others
at CS Inc. in Tokyo for over three years, Lawrence Kieffer
(JEM5) found himself being hunted and is now director of consulting
for Asia-Net K.K., a leading Internet recruitment company for bilingual
professionals. He also married Rieko in September in New York ...
John Morihara (JEM6) has left Nichibei Co., Ltd. ... In Beijing,
along with Li Xuan, Tim Liu, and Phil Jones,
Dr. Miyataki met with Jiandong Yang (ICMP98F), deputy director
of the Department of High Technology in the State Development Planning
Commission, and J.X. Zhao (AMP28) of Thomson ILX Systems
in New York. Zhao happened to be traveling in Beijing the same week
... In Hong Kong: Wendy Chan (JEM7), planning manager, MindShare
Hong Kong Ltd. ... Francis Fung (JEM6), derivatives documentation
manager, Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities ... Rick Chan (JEM6)
started working as an administrative officer for the Hong Kong government.

the Honolulu Marathon last December with her friends ... Tsuneo
Nara (AMP10), with Fujitsu, visited Hawaii after 16 years and
brought his wife Hiroko and two sons ... Marcus Otsuji (JEM7)
and his wife Liana were in Hawaii for the holidays—he’s with JapanWorks,
a business and investment consulting company in Utah ... Johan
Soedibjo (JEM5), general manager with PT Astratel Nusantara
in Jakarta visited with his wife Wiliwati. He and fellow classmate
Bambang Sastrosatomo hope to get together all JEM5 alumni
and JAIMS staff for a reunion in Bali next year ... In January,
newlyweds Toshiyuki Kan (ICMP94F) and Michiko visited while
on a Hawaii honeymoon—he’s with Asahi Mutual Life Insurance in Tokyo
... Jun Kobayashi (ICMP94F) and wife Rika enjoyed a Hawaii
holiday—he’s been on the U.S. mainland after graduating from JAIMS
and is with North American Lighting in Michigan ... Yasuo Shiraki
(AMP21) retired two years ago from Nippon Steel and made his first
visit since graduation in 1982 ... Erika Nishimori (ICMP97S),
with Aiokai Medical Corporation in Tokyo, was on a business trip
in Hawaii researching medical facilities for the elderly ... Mari

Mari spent a year in Florida with WDW and was on her way back to
Japan. Grace moved to Honolulu last year and recently got married

Reiko visited while on holiday from Sanyo in Tokyo ... Miki Yuzawa,
recent ICMP98S graduate and Fujitsu employee, was enjoying a short

experiences at JAIMS ... Arie Nugroho (AMP91F) made a special
trip to JAIMS in April to accompany his sister Marini Prihasantie
at the start of the ICMP99S program—he’s now business development
director with PT Hadatrans Interbuana in Semarang, Indonesia ...
Tom Goeller (JMP1) and his wife visited for the first time
since his graduation 26 years ago. He’s been working for IBM in
Illinois for 25 years and was awarded a sales incentive vacation
to Kauai ... Chris Lamatsch (JEM5), senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers
in Tokyo, spoke with the JEM9 class in April and brought his wife
Kyoko and daughters Kay and Emma ... Neeraj Jhanji (JEM5),
with Anderson Consulting in Tokyo, visited and was happy to report
that he had passed the JETRO level 1 test! ... Dawn Kawasaki
(JEM8) returned to Hawaii after a trip through Africa and the Middle
East and is now in New York ... Noriaki Saito (ICMP97S),
with Fujitsu International Computer Business Group, vacationed in
Hawaii during Golden Week and dropped by JAIMS just in time for
a kabuto-tori celebration by the staff ... Hiroe "Pepper"
Matsuo (ICMP96F) visited in May and found JJO’s Katsumi Tsubaki
hard at work! ... Takayuki Ishida (ICMP95S), a software engineer
at Sony, dropped by in June ... Tetsuzo Nishimura (AMP91F)
visited in July with his wife, daughter and some friends and informed
us that he’s now with Meritor Automotive Japan ... Minoru Hashimoto
(AMP16), general manager of consulting at Beacon IT in Tokyo, also
visited in July ... The month of September saw quite a number of
alumni at JAIMS: Yutaro Ito (AMP4) visited JAIMS with his
wife Tomoko—he works for Hoku Gin Software, a subsidiary of Hokuriku
Bank ... Also visiting on the same day was Tomohiro Yoshimura
(AMP92S), who works for Fujitsu, and his wife Yasuyo ... David
Scott (JEM5), fund manager at Jardine Fleming in Tokyo, took
the time to drop by JAIMS and speak to JEM10 and CHEM3 students
while on vacation ... Yoshinaga Seki (AMP27), who also visited
in September, works as a senior customer representative for Federal
Express in Japan and tells us that he has traveled overseas to more
than 30 countries ... ICMP95S classmates Tomoko Hattori and
Noriko Kozu visited with Tomoko’s mother. Both are working
for Fujitsu. Tomoko has just translated a book called The Information
Paradox into Japanese, and Noriko has begun to learn watercolor
painting and Noh dance ... Kiyotoshi Ando (AMP10) came by
JAIMS with his wife and daughter—he left Suntory Ltd. in 1997 and
is now the director of operations at Boston Scientific Japan.

Donna Tan Ong (JEM5) and her husband Leonard were
blessed with a healthy boy, Theodore Jeremy, born last December
... Best wishes to Masaya Hirai (ICMP97S), who married Hikari
Yamaji in November 1998 ... Midori Taniyama (AMP93F) married
Masahiro Yamazaki at a ceremony in Australia in January—she works
for Fujitsu in the application software business group ... Xavier
Li and Yumika Yoshida (ICMP98S), a romance that began
at JAIMS, married in August in Victoria, Canada. Xavier’s getting
his MBA at University of Victoria, and Yumika’s hoping to go to
law school after working for Fujitsu for 13 years ... During their
recent studies at JAIMS: Time Asia/Fujitsu Scholar Tjandra Widjaya
(ICMP99S), and his wife Dewi, were blessed with a baby girl, Gabriela
Leilani in June, and Fredy Sumendap (JEM9) and wife Wannie
welcomed the birth of their son William Leonard in August—right
before leaving for his internship in Japan ... Tamara (Witte)
and Andrew Ujiie (JEM4)—both with World Family K.K. in Tokyo—welcomed
their first child, Katrina Arisa, in July ... Tetsuya Ohashi
(ICMP96S) got married in July, and he and wife Yoko dropped by JAIMS
while on their honeymoon in Hawaii ... Taisei Minamoto (ICMP98S)
and his wife Junko celebrated their wedding at Halekulani Hotel
in Waikiki in September and spent a few days on the Big Island ...
In October William Hall (JMP17) and his wife Keiko, had a
second son, Kai William, to join brother Kento. Bill has left Kamakura
Corporation and is now with Data House in Honolulu.
